5 Ways To Recover From A Bad Day

We’ve all been there: feeling like everyone and everything is against you, especially on lethargic days where nothing seems to be going your way. On some days, it actually feels like the end of the world.

However, we’re here to tell you that it’s just a bad day – not a bad life. Pat yourself on the back and remind yourself that this too shall pass, and that there are ways to recover from these episodes. Everyone goes through bad days! All you need to do is be compassionate with yourself and know how to restart.

Oeorganics - Get a good night’s sleep

1. Get a good night’s sleep.

Sleep is the magic word here. Maybe you’ve been told to “just sleep it off,” and more often that not, this simple piece of advice works wonders. A bad day tires you out, and sometimes, it’s the other way around – you’re just tired, hence, the bad day.

There’s almost no bad mood a good night’s sleep can’t fix – so mute your phone, dim your lights, tuck yourself in early, relax, and let those much-needed Zzzzs take you away to a better tomorrow!

Oeorganics - Make a gratitude list

2. Make a gratitude list.

When you’re going through a rough day, it’s normal to think only of the bad stuff. When this starts to happen, break that negative cycle ASAP by simply stopping to count your blessings.

At the end of your day, or as soon as you wake up, write down 3-5 things you’re grateful for. Whether it’s a chat with an old friend, a stellar presentation at work, or something as simple as your morning cup of coffee or a good dinner out – note it. Every little good thing counts in reminding yourself that life is always beautiful.

Oeorganics - Enjoy some me time

3. Enjoy some me time.

It’s time for some self-compassion! This means telling yourself it’s okay you feel this way, and that you shouldn’t feel guilty for taking some time off for yourself. What are the things you enjoy doing on your own? Take a day off (or a few hours after work) solely for yourself, and treat yourself with whatever makes you happy – some ice cream in bed, your favorite romcom, a massage, or some take-out!

Oeorganics - Call a friend

4. Call a friend.

You’ll get by with a little help from your friends, says The Beatles – and they’re right! Reach out to a close family member, or a good friend and be honest with them. Not feeling so well? Invite them over for coffee at your favorite cafe. Need company? Initiate a sleepover! Being in the company of your support group is already a mood-upper on its own.

Oeorganics - Start fresh

5. Start fresh.

After all that’s been done, remind yourself that everything is temporary – and so is this bad day. Get up the next day and greet the morning with a clean slate. If it helps, you can self-reflect on what could be improved on from the previous day, but afterwards – forgive yourself, and forget. There’s no use in dwelling on the past. The future is right ahead of you!

We hope these self-care tips help you the next time you encounter a little bump in the road. You’re never alone, don’t forget that, and we’re always here for you every step of the way!
